The Governor of Fergana Region, Khayrullo Bozorov, met with the Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Sericulture and Wool Industry, Ikboljon Ergashev.
During the meeting, they discussed collaborative efforts to implement the Presidential Decree issued on May 3rd of this year, titled “On Accelerating the Introduction of Market Mechanisms in the Silkworm Breeding and Sericulture Sector.” They also exchanged views on establishing the “Fergana Sericulture Scientific Complex” project in the region.
The scientific complex will cover a total area of 78 hectares, with an estimated project cost of $5 million. Once operational, the project is expected to create 1,500 jobs, including 100 permanent and 1,400 seasonal positions. The project is planned to be implemented in the “Qalacha” Makhalla of Fergana District.
The scientific complex will integrate eight new directions into the sericulture sector, contributing significantly to its development.
The regional leader noted that this project would greatly enhance the industry’s advancement and assured comprehensive support in its implementation.
