The Governor of the Fergana Region, Khayrullo Bozorov, visited the “Kokand” Free Economic Zone’s Kuvasay branch located in the Pakana neighborhood of Kuvasay City to observe the ongoing developments.
In accordance with the Presidential decree, the area of the “Kokand” Free Economic Zone has been expanded by incorporating a total of 210.4 hectares of reserve land under the jurisdiction of the Kuvasay City Administration. Over the next two years, at least $1 billion worth of investments are expected to be attracted to the zone, creating over 11,700 new jobs. Additionally, production capacities capable of generating $965 million worth of goods annually, including $313.6 million worth of exports, will be established.
Currently, practical work has commenced on four promising projects with a total value of $61 million.
One of the projects being implemented by Marwin Fruitline LLC is aimed at fruit processing and the production of concentrated natural juices. The project, valued at 176.5 billion UZS, is expected to create 120 new jobs and generate an annual export volume of $5 million.
At present, state-of-the-art technologies from Switzerland, Italy, Poland, China, and Turkey are being installed, and the final assembly work is underway.
During his visit, the regional governor held discussions with relevant sectoral leaders on further developing the engineering-communication and road transport infrastructure in the area. Instructions were given to expedite the installation of sewage, natural gas, and electricity networks in the shortest possible time.
