A regional demonstration seminar dedicated to improving the quality and systematic implementation of initial cultivation in cotton fields, as well as addressing issues related to wheat production and silkworm breeding, was held in the Kuvasoy district. The event was attended by the Governor of Fergana Region, Khayrullo Bozorov, the Regional Prosecutor Bakhtiyor Ismoilov, the Head of the Regional Department of Internal Affairs Azizbek Ikramov, among other officials. Members of the Public Oversight Council, deputy governors responsible for agriculture and water management, heads of water supply services, plant quarantine and protection specialists, cluster managers in the cotton-textile sector, farmers, and heads of related organizations also participated. The seminar began with a visit to the “Bo‘ston” Makhalla, where attendees were introduced to the “One Contour – One Product” project being implemented by “Qo‘rg‘oncha Machine Agro Service” LLC. Under the project, 10 hectares have been allocated for the cultivation of early-maturing cabbage varieties adapted to the regional climate. The project’s total value is 735 million soums, with 300 million soums provided as a bank loan. After the cabbage harvest, second crops will be planted. The land plots have been leased to 34 unemployed residents, with each expected to generate approximately 151.7 million soums in annual income. The produce is intended for both local and international markets. Participants then observed the initial cultivation activities at the cotton fields of “Fayzli Odil Mahmud” farming enterprise, reviewing the application of new cultivation technologies. At the Sirdarya-Sokh Irrigation Systems Basin Authority’s training center, discussions were held to define tasks related to agronomic practices for cotton, wheat, and silkworm breeding. Governor Khayrullo Bozorov emphasized that the integration of scientific advancements and innovations into the agricultural sector is yielding significant results. He underlined the need to apply best practices and utilize modern agricultural machinery to enhance cotton and wheat productivity. Relevant instructions were issued to ensure effective implementation of these initiatives. “Only through high-quality and systematic agronomic practices in cotton cultivation can we achieve the expected results. We must approach this work with utmost responsibility. Going forward, farmers must operate in a way that guarantees yields of at least 50 centners per hectare,” the Governor stated. This year, 72,000 hectares of land have been sown with cotton seeds in the region. Of these, 8,332 hectares were sown using the 76 cm paired-row method, while 3,836 hectares were planted under film mulch using the Chinese drip irrigation technique. Special attention was given to seed variety selection, with 469 tons of cottonseed imported from China. Additionally, seeds of varieties such as “Namangan-77,” “C-8290,” and “6775” were planted across the fields. Specialists provided detailed explanations regarding key agronomic interventions in cotton cultivation, including cultivation practices, mineral fertilization, and pest control strategies. The importance of timely implementation of deep soil loosening and cultivation measures was stressed. Discussions also addressed disease prevention, installation of pheromone traps to control stem borer moths, and the need to stockpile fertilizers to ensure proper plant nutrition. Working groups have been established to monitor the technical condition of machinery and the quality of operations rigorously. In addition, 94,300 hectares of wheat fields are being cultivated this year, with fertilization activities currently underway. The region has also set a target to rear 46,436 boxes of silkworms and produce 2,786 tons of raw silk cocoons. The seminar reviewed activities in these sectors and outlined specific measures to be implemented.
