Regional Leaders from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan Hold Trilateral Meeting in Guliston










A trilateral regional meeting of border area leaders took place in Guliston, Tajikistan, with the participation of Fergana Region Governor Khayrullo Bozorov, Sughd Region Chairman Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, and Batken Region Governor Abdikarim Alimbaev. Officials from all three neighboring regions also attended the event.
The meeting began with a private discussion between Governor Bozorov and Chairman Ahmadzoda, during which both sides expressed satisfaction with the strengthening of friendly relations, attributing this progress to the wise policies of the leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The two leaders exchanged views on further developing cooperation between the regions.
During the expanded trilateral session, discussions focused on broadening trade and economic cooperation, enhancing transportation and logistics, advancing cultural and humanitarian ties, promoting pilgrimage tourism, and establishing new tourist routes. Other key topics included strategies to address shared challenges and foster deeper collaboration.
Rajabboy Akhmadzoda welcomed the participants to the ancient land of Sughd, emphasizing the significance and relevance of such meetings in strengthening friendly relations. He noted that these trilateral gatherings have become an annual tradition, providing a significant impetus for improving regional ties.
In his address, Governor Khayrullo Bozorov highlighted the positive results achieved in strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation with neighboring regions, crediting the commitment of the leaders of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan to fostering interregional friendship and socio-economic collaboration.
Governor Bozorov proposed several initiatives aimed at deepening cooperation. These included organizing regular trade and industrial fairs, business forums, and cultural and sports events in the border towns and districts of the three regions. He also suggested creating a “Council of Entrepreneurs” under the regions’ chambers of commerce to streamline business collaboration. Additional proposals included developing a “Batken-Sughd-Fergana” unified tourism zone concept, hosting a joint investment forum in Fergana, and conducting an in-depth analysis of import structures to significantly expand trade and economic ties. Furthermore, he recommended fostering academic exchanges between universities, organizing joint scientific research, and sharing expertise for personnel training and skill development.
The leaders also discussed holding cultural days across the three regions to strengthen cultural ties and mutual understanding.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a trilateral “Roadmap” to expand and deepen cooperation. This key document aims to further enhance friendly relations, promote regional integration, and solidify the partnership between the three neighboring regions.
