The 18th International Conference “Central Asia – 2025” Opens in Fergana










The city of Fergana is hosting the XVIII International Conference titled “Central Asia – 2025: Internet and Information-Library Resources in Science, Education, Culture, and Business”. The opening ceremony took place at the Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment of Fergana State University. The event gathered experts and specialists from over ten countries, including the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Belarus, Germany, France, the Sultanate of Oman, the Russian Federation, and Malaysia. Also in attendance were librarians, archivists, museum workers, and information and communication technology specialists from across Uzbekistan. Welcoming the participants, the Governor of Fergana Region, Khayrullo Bozorov, extended his sincere congratulations on the occasion of this prestigious conference. He highlighted the emphasis placed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on promoting a reading culture in Uzbekistan. As a result of these efforts, the number of readers is steadily growing throughout the country. Governor Bozorov acknowledged the significant contribution made by information-library centers and their dedicated staff in advancing these goals. It was noted that four new information-library centers have been built in the Fergana region, and seven more have undergone major renovations. The regional information-library center has been completely renovated and was recently put into operation. Emphasizing the importance of fostering a culture of reading, the Governor expressed confidence that this international conference would serve as a vital platform for exchanging advanced practices, generating constructive proposals, and identifying solutions to pressing challenges in the field. Director of the Agency for Information and Mass Communications Asadjon Khodjaev, Director of the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi Umida Teshabaeva, and other speakers addressed the ongoing efforts and strategic priorities in Uzbekistan’s information and library sector. During the event, Governor Khayrullo Bozorov was awarded the honorary badge “Excellence in Information and Library Services” for his notable contribution and effective work in promoting literacy and advancing the library-information sector. The international conference continues its sessions.
