24 Modern Buses Delivered to Fergana to Enhance Public Transport

24 Modern Buses Delivered to Fergana to Enhance Public Transport A new fleet of 24 modern buses, imported from the People’s Republic of China, was officially handed over for operation in Fergana Region. The launch ceremony was attended by the Governor of Fergana Region, Khayrullo Bozorov, along with senior officials from relevant institutions, community leaders, and local residents. In his remarks, the Governor emphasized the ongoing efforts to improve public transport infrastructure and ensure greater convenience for residents. He noted that 48 modern buses were introduced last year across four new routes, and this process will continue systematically. Further acquisitions are planned for other cities and districts, including Kokand and Margilan. The newly arrived buses will operate on two new routes in Fergana City and are expected to serve an average of 10,000 passengers daily. They are equipped with all necessary amenities to provide a comfortable and efficient commute for citizens. These developments align with the Presidential Decree dated February 16, 2023, “On Measures to Reform the Public Transport System,” which has enabled significant progress in the region’s transport sector. Currently, 152 modern buses are operating across 11 routes in Fergana. The new 24 buses will operate on Route 5 (from A. Jomiy Mahalla through the city center to Chekshura Mahalla) and Route 6 (from Abdulla Qodiriy Mahalla through the city center to the Istiqlol Stadium). By the end of this year, the total number of public buses in Fergana is expected to reach 104, significantly raising the quality and safety of transport services for the population. To further develop the region’s public transport network, a delegation comprising the regional transport department and nine transportation companies visited China in April 2025. During this visit, a memorandum was signed with leading manufacturers such as “Zong Tong” and “Asia Star” for the procurement of 384 buses and minibuses. The total value of this project is estimated at $19.5 million USD. At the event, prayers were offered for peace and prosperity in the nation, followed by a tour of the new buses. The Chinese-manufactured vehicles are fully equipped with passenger-friendly features, including air conditioning systems for summer, heating for winter, GPS tracking, and all-around video surveillance cameras. Following the ceremony, Governor Khayrullo Bozorov visited the state-run “Passenger Transport Monitoring and Control” Center, established under the regional transport department. There, he observed real-time monitoring systems that track the movement of public buses and address operational issues on the spot.
